Evropa 12 – imitacija kedisa
Europea 12
Original engleski: Many Swedes think that this fly, the Europea12, is a classic Swedish fly because everyone knows it and has so for many decades. But the truth is that the pattern is originally from France. It doesn't really matter where it comes from, it is a superb dry fly when there are hatching caddis flies.
The most important component for the fly's look is the wing. It's made from mallard hen chest feather. It's sometimes difficult to obtain in good quality, much because of it's ben packed in plastic bags and crushed. It's easy to fix if you hold the feather over boiling water, using the steam to straighten the feather.
To get the right length of the wing to the right hooks size, I'm using Lennart Bergqvists great idea, using pieces if card board where you easy can measure the feathers and cut to right length.
These E 12 are tied on Ahrex FW502 size 10-16
