Veliko finale na Evropskom prvenstvu u Crnoj Gori 2019.

Evropsko prvenstvo – Effc 2019. takmičenje 3. dan, peta – završna sesija; Sektor 2 – Plavsko jezero, Crna Gora

La Grande Finale!!! Poslednja odlučujuća i najvažnija utakmica (sesija); prethodne možete pronaći ovde: https://www.facebook.com/jure.osolin/posts/2198029376975874

Takođe su se i druga četiri člana naše reprezentacije Slovenije savršeno lovila pa smo na kraju završili na 2. mesto nakon 5. sesiji u ekipnom poretku. Stvarno izuzetan učinak u 3. danu takmičenja – prvi i drugi timski plasman.;

The last decisive and most important session; previous ones you can find here: https://www.facebook.com/jure.osolin/posts/2198029376975874
After fishing above expectations and holding second place in team standings, competition was not over at all. Afternoon session, which finished not much before dark, has everything prepared for our big wishes, but as usually, last session can turn everything around. Specially on the lake.
After my morning victory in river Ljuca, but more important, after our team victory in Session 4, we arrived to last stage in second place. I was the man with the most pressure on myself as I was going to the lake, where one fish makes you a winner or a loser. We were sure that with just one more fish from the lake we will not miss a medal, even if there were still several teams which stayed medal contestants. I relaxed during the lunch and stayed calm all the time. Our team was very successful on the lake with just the youngest being blank, so my tactic was quite simple: I waited for the draw and usually when everybody wants to be a captain first, our plan for afternoon session was to be a captain in the last 90 minutes, not first. Reason for this was simple again; most of the competitors focused fishing on lake trouts and even if there were also many pikes on the lake, rare were caught. This year also the pike counted for the result (in the lake beside trouts and some chubs), and our youngest two competitors (Luka and Rok) made some training before competition. We found out that there were really many pikes in the lake with usual sizes around 50cm, but they were completely unactive during the day; they started to feed just when the sun hide behind the close hill.
The draw selected I would have a partner from Slovakia in my boat, Igor Hribik. I was happy he was the captain first, and of course he was too. Before the start we discussed possibility that I could try to catch a pike in last hour of competition in different locations if I would be without a fish at that time, and he agreed. We were fishing in the entrance of Ljuca river to the lake in first hour, but no success. Then we moved to the entrance of small Ljuca, where Aljosa got his trout in the morning (and also Matjaz in first day) and soon Igor got a strike, but he lost a nice trout. Not much further he had a strike again and this time he successfully landed his lake trout and he was relieved. I, on the other side, was still without a strike and two hours into session, it was a start to change my tactic. We were still fishing around the entrance of small Ljuca, when I changed complete package: I took #9 rod with big reel and floating line, which ended with a 0,70 fluorocarbon, on which a put a big, almost 20cm long green streamer. As I became the captain of the boat, we slowly moved around edges of the lake, making two or three cast in same spot and then moved again. The sun was allready hidden behind nearest hill, so I expect the possible strike at any times. 15 minus before the end I put „all in“ and drove into last bay, full of water lilys. 10 minutes remaining before closing down, I made a cast app. 20 metres in the dirrection of the bank. One slow pull and I saw a water made some waves and one pull more and the line stopped. It was a strike but to my surprise, I could not make few pulls more and land the fish, which is usual for pikes 50-60cm long. This strike was complete opposite as I could not move the fish even a centimeter, actually the fish turned around and pulled the boat! I realised I hooked something massive and when the fish tried to escape, it pulled out the complete line, but to my luck the pike chose the direction where there were no water lilys. I was still calm, but I knew I could not make not a single mistake or the fish will be gone, and even without a mistake it was not certain I would land that fish. Well, I didn’t make any mistake and the luck was on my side this time and after 5 minutes of battle and just 5 minutes before the end of competition!, I succesfully landed the fish. And what a fish it was. I made few really loud screams and at this point, even if I didn’t have any other informations about my team and the others, I was sure the medal will be our. The pike was directly 100cm long, which was by 30cm longer than the second longest fish of the competition, and this is also the longest valid fish, caught in the history of World/European Flyfishing Championships. We made some historic photos before releasing it and because our session started 10 minutes later, the team was allready waiting for my news. Also other four members fished perfect (we finished 2nd in 5th session in team standings, trully outstanding performance in Day 3 – first and second team placings; At that point we were all sure the medal will travel to Slovenia, so I texted my photos to group chat and before we anchored our boat, the photo of the pike allready travelled around web chats.
The rest is just a nice history. We showed that we could do anything with a positive team spirit and Fips-Mouche medal was my only missing medal from flyfishing competition – not anymore, it is saved in special place at home.
