Udica Draper

Udica draper (Draper hook)
„Draper’s flat bodied hook
Was rummaging around in one of my hook storage boxes today and came across a packet of these:

I’d forgotten all about them. Keith Draper of Taupo developed them as he wanted to imitate a flat nymph. The first ones were a bit problematic as there was a weakness where the hook wire was soldered together and they could break or bend at that point. Then Partridge in the UK developed them up and they were much better.
I have not seen them for sale for years but were reasonably common back in the late ’70s – mid ’80s
They make for a nice shaped nymph. Of course a bead will not fit on them, but you could wrap thinner lead wire around them or put appropriately shaped lead foil in the middle for weight.
