SBS: Deer Hair Dun

SBS: Deer Hair Dun

I was asked about tying-details on this fly. Here is a few steps.

1. pic. The finished fly

2. pic. Coq de Leon as tails and stripped Picric acid dyed peacock herl for the abdomen. I get rid of the luv with my finger nails.

3. pic. I code the abdomen with UV resin, to make it more durable.

4. pic. Dark Olive dubbing on half of the thorax, to make the cdc wing sit right.

5. pic. I take out the feather stems on the cdc, collect it in a clamp and tie it down in front of the dubbing, to make the angle better for the wing.

6. pic. Roe Deer Hair, Picric acid dyes Olive, 1,5 cm in length, twisted in a loop of tying thread, I use the more curly ones, to make it more insect-like.

7. pic. Another Deer Hair Dun from my vice.

I used mainly Semperfli materials for this fly, and it was tied on a Dohiku hook, 301 size 16
